Classroom Rules, Consequences, and Reward System:

I personally believe that rules are really important in a classroom. The rules that I would implement in my classroom for my fifth grade classroom would be come to class on time, come to class prepared to learn with your classroom materials, listen to teacher, and follow directions. Another basic rules that will be in my classroom will be: be prepared, be respectful, be productive, be safe.
The consequences for my rules will be:
1. I will write your name on the board and you own me 10 minutes of recess
2. you own me your whole recess
 3. I will give your parents a call
4. You will have a talk with the principal and parents.

The way that I would document the consequences will be by posting a poster in the classroom with the rules and the consequence and if those rules are not followed then there are going to be consequences. I will also document the consequences by writing the students name down on the board that way the student can see what choices he or she is making and that way she/e can reverse those choices and be better in the classroom.
My reward system is going to be by using an app called ClassDojo. This app lets me give students points and comments on how each individual child is doing. When each students reaches 10 points of good behavior they can get a reward out of the treasure box. I personally believe that having rules, consequences, and rewards in a classroom is a great way to get your students motivated to work hard and follow the rules.

Classroom behavioral expectations for students:

For my classroom my expectations for my students are simple.
All my students have to be:
  1. Respect yourself and others.
  2. Keep your hands and feet to yourself
  3. Zero Tolerance To Bulling
  4. Be on time and prepared to learn with all of your material to the classroom.

This behavioral expectations are important in my classroom because I feel that fifth grades should be able to follow them with no problem. If I see that this expectations are not met them there are going to be some consequences.

Parent Teacher Communication

As a teacher I feel that having a good communication with your studentsparents/guardians is really important not only for the students learning but also for the parents. I feel that a way that I will communicate with my student’s parents is by sending bulletins with my students every month inviting the parents to come in to the classroom to see how the child is doing. Also the bulletin is going to let the parents know the different activities their child is doing as well as what homework need to be done by what day or when test or quizzes are going to be given. Another way that I can communicate with my student’s parents is by giving monthly phone class to the parents and letting them know how the child is doing as well as asking if they have any concerns. My last way of communication is my e-mail, I know that is not the best way but many parents know a days are more comfortable with sending e-mail rather than calling. I will also send e-mails if I have any questions or just to let the parent know how their child is going. Overall I feel that as a teacher, the parents and I have to have a great team work to help their child and my students the most. Building a relationship between the parents and I is fundamental for the students learning.
If you have any questions about your child's learning feel free to contact me to my classroom by calling the school, my extension is 3420 or to my e-mail: Ssilva20@Othello.edu.
My hours are from 7am to 3 pm in the classroom. Feel free to speak to me before or after school I am also available. If I do not answer a phone call please leave a message I will return the call as soon as possible.

Grading

Grades in class will consists on participation including attendance, homework, group work and tests and quizzes.  I would probably put homework at only 13% of the grade, presentations at 25% and group work at 25% of their grade. Group work is going to be graded both at a group level and as an individual level. Test and quizzes will be graded as another 25% of their grade and attendance as 12%. My policy on late work will be that it is accepted but at a lower grade. I can give my students full credit on late work if they can give me a doctors letter letting me know that they had an appointment or a parent letter giving me an explanation on why the child was not able to turn in the assignment on time. There is a few extra credit opportunities in my class students need to take advantage of them. There is going to be a monthly grade check with each of my students. I will send home a review of what the child did not complete and what the grade they have at that point is. Parents need to sign this form and send it back to the classroom this form is going to be graded.

My teaching Philosophy:

As a teacher, providing my students with a safe, comfortable, and welcoming classroom environment is my most important factor in my classroom management plan. I will maximize opportunities for my students learning by maintaining a safe, comfortable, and welcoming classroom environment. As a teacher I believe that in the classroom there needs to be discipline. My students will learn that there are classroom rules that have to be followed and if there are not followed them there could be consequences. Also in my classroom I will be a positive influence and I will model to my student’s good manners and how to be respectful towards one another. My students are all unique individuals and I will treat them all the same. As the teacher I also have responsibilities that I will complete in order to teach my students.Overall I feel that a well-managed classroom creates a relaxing, safe place where my students will want to learn.  It also prevents disrupting events and behavioral issues, which allows for more valuable instruction and learning time.
